Installing the cable shield - on one or both sides?
The shield of an industrial data cable protects the wires inside from the influence of electrical and magnetic fields. To ensure that this protection is complete, the shield should in all cases be laid at both ends (thus, both-sided) and connected to the equipotential bonding (EB). It should also be noted that the cable shield itself must never be used as equipotential bonding.
